Elevate this fast and easy meal by adding a different sauerkraut variety to each bun; cut in half and share or enjoy the whole darn dog. A simple condiment hack to boost flavor and to easily expand the overall nutritional diversity of a single meal.

INGREDIENTS

Highest quality hot dogs you can find - or substitute meats with carrots for a delicious plant-based option

Buns (or lettuce wraps for a low carbohydrate option)

Your favorite mustard

Kres Kitchen Sauerkrauts - consider leveling-up flavor by using different varieties.

ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS WE LOVE:

Onions
Minced jalapeño (fresh or pickled)
Finely chopped cucumber, celery or celeriac
Fresh spinach, cilantro or parsley or other leafy green

DIRECTIONS

If you’re using carrot dogs: wash, trim the ends and pre-boil or microwave until tender with a little crunch remaining on the inside. Lightly coat with liquid smoke before placing on the grill or under the broiler.

Finish the carrot dogs and fully cook the hot dogs (or preferred brat-type meats) on the grill or under a hot broiler to achieve the proper internal temp (meats) and the preferred char.

Remove the dogs from the grill/broiler and place on your bun or in your lettuce wrap.

Top with uncooked sauerkraut right from the jar. Consider using a different kraut variety for each dog to build unique favors and to boost the nutritional benefits from a range of fermented vegetables.

Add your favorite mustard.

Serve with grilled corn, a baked potato or a leafy green salad.
